Festival Host Tim Mooney

Tim is the co-founder of CDFF and long time resident of the Bay Area. Originally from New Jersey, Tim moved to Los Angeles and then to Santa Cruz where he founded a local rock band called Mooncussers which included his songwriting partner Kirkman Ridd. In the wake of the Loma Preita Earthquake of 1989, the Mooncussers (now called Santa Cruz Mooncussers) released the 45-rpm vinyl single "Surf the Earth" as a benefit record for all those affected by the quake. The record received substantial airplay in the region, and rock legend Neil Young apparently referenced the song when he recalled the quake and noted, "We were surfing the earth, as they say." Now based in Cotati, CA, Tim will conduct all filmmaker interviews at the festival.
